A free business email costs $0 but shows clients a @gmail.com address, or a forwarding setup that still needs somewhere to send from. Email at your own domain shows `you@yourcompany.com` on every message. On LotsMail that is $5 a month, or $50 a year, for the whole team, with unlimited mailboxes.

Everything about other companies below comes from their own pages, checked on 27 October 2026. Prices are US dollars before tax, list prices only.

## What clients actually see

Clients judge email by the address first. Here is what each option puts in front of them.

**A free Gmail address** shows `yourbusiness@gmail.com`. It works and it's free, but it carries no company name, and anyone can create the same kind of address in a minute.

**Forwarding plus Gmail** is the common free route to your own domain. Cloudflare Email Routing, for example, forwards mail sent to `hello@yourcompany.com` to a Gmail inbox you already have. It's free, inbound mail is unlimited on the free plan, and your domain has to use Cloudflare DNS. It handles incoming mail only: Cloudflare's docs say sending to arbitrary recipients needs its paid Workers plan. To reply as `hello@yourcompany.com`, Gmail's "Send mail as" asks for the outgoing server of a mail service, so you still need one. Google's own help page also warns that replies go to your original Gmail address by default unless you set a reply-to, and that Outlook users may see "on behalf of" next to the sender.

**Zoho Mail's Forever Free plan** gives you a real mailbox at your own domain: one domain, up to 5 users, 5 GB each. Zoho's page notes that it isn't available in every data center, that IMAP, POP and ActiveSync aren't included, and that from the 6th user everyone is on a paid plan. If you're a team of up to five on one domain and the browser inbox is enough, this is a good free answer.

**LotsMail** puts `you@yourcompany.com` on every message, including shared inboxes like `support@` and `orders@`, and your team signs in to a full web inbox on any phone or computer. Clients see your domain, not ours.

### What an agency's clients see: white-label

If you run email for client domains, there's a second layer: the sign-in page and the emails your client's staff receive when you add them. White-label runs LotsMail under your own brand: the webmail on your own address shows only your brand, and sign-in, password and invitation emails come from your client's own domain, never LotsMail. It's included on every domain with Business ($60 a month or $600 a year, 20 domains), and you can add it to any domain on Starter or Pro; add-on prices are on [the pricing page](https://lotsmail.to/pricing).

The known limit: the domain's MX and DNS records point at LotsMail, as they do with any email host. White-label changes what people see in the inbox and in account emails, not where the domain's mail is hosted.

## What it costs

| | **Cost for a team of 5, per year** | **For 10 people** |
|---|---|---|
| Free Gmail addresses | $0 | $0 |
| Zoho Mail Forever Free | $0 (up to 5 users) | Paid plans from the 6th user |
| Google Workspace Starter | $420 ($7 a user a month, annual commitment) | $840 |
| LotsMail Starter | $50 | $50 |

Google Workspace Starter includes custom business email, 30 GB pooled storage per person and a 14-day free trial; Google's pricing page shows $7 a user a month with a one-year commitment.

LotsMail is priced per domain, so the price doesn't change when you add the sixth person, a role address or a part-time contractor. LotsMail Pro is $20 a month or $200 a year for 5 domains, and Business is $60 or $600 for 20. Every domain gets unlimited mailboxes and people, 10 GB of shared storage and 1,000 sent emails a month, and a domain that needs more can add storage or sending. The domain name itself is bought from a registrar and is the same cost in every option except Gmail.

You can start without paying: new accounts get 5,000 free credits, valid 90 days, no card.

## When free is the right call

- You're one person and the clients don't see your address yet.
- You're a team of up to five on one domain, and a free Zoho mailbox with no mail-app support suits you.
- You only need to receive mail at your own address and are happy to reply from Gmail.

## When your own domain is worth $5 a month

- More than five people need an address, or you want `support@`, `billing@` and `hello@` for the same price.
- You send quotes, invoices or proposals and want the sender to read as your company on every message.
- You run email for client domains and want a workspace per client, with the client's staff signing in free.
- You want your AI assistant to read, draft and, if you allow it, send from a shared inbox.

## What LotsMail doesn't do yet

You read mail in the browser or through ChatGPT or Claude. Desktop and phone mail apps over IMAP and SMTP are coming soon. LotsMail has no calendar. Import brings over mail only, not calendar or contacts, and it can't import Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com accounts yet: that is planned, with no date. If you need a mail app or calendar today, choose a provider that has them.

## Use your AI agent on the inbox

LotsMail works with the AI agent you already use. ChatGPT, Claude or any MCP client connects through the [connect page](https://lotsmail.to/mcp), and for each mailbox you choose read, draft or send. Sending by agents stays off until you turn it on, and drafts wait for you in the dashboard. Domains, DNS, team and billing are yours in the dashboard, which does the whole job on its own.

> In LotsMail, open the info@ mailbox. List the unread threads from the last two days, tell me who is waiting for a reply, and write a draft answer for each one. Don't send anything.

## Switch from a free address in five steps

1. Buy or pick the domain you want. If you already have one, keep your DNS provider and your website.
2. Add the domain in LotsMail and add the records it shows you. The full walkthrough is in [how to get custom domain email](https://lotsmail.to/blog/how-to-get-custom-domain-email).
3. Create the mailboxes you need, including shared ones, and set who can open each.
4. Bring your old mail over if you want it. Your current provider keeps your existing mail, and you can copy it into LotsMail with Import mail: Gmail, Google Workspace, Zoho, Yahoo or any host with IMAP, using an app password. An owner or admin starts it from the mailbox in the console. Trash, Spam and Drafts are not imported, and the app password is deleted when the import ends.
5. Point your mail to LotsMail when you're ready, and tell clients your new address. Keep the old Gmail account open until you've saved what you need.

## FAQ

### Is there a free business email with my own domain?

Yes, with limits. Zoho Mail's Forever Free plan gives one domain, up to 5 users and 5 GB each, without IMAP, POP or ActiveSync. Domain forwarding is free too, for example Cloudflare Email Routing, but it only receives mail; sending as your domain needs a mail service. Checked on 27 October 2026.

### Can I use Gmail with my own domain for free?

You can receive mail at your domain by forwarding it to Gmail, and Gmail's "Send mail as" can reply from that address if you give it an outgoing mail server. Google's help page says replies go to your Gmail address by default unless you set a reply-to, and some recipients may see "on behalf of". Gmail with a custom domain as a full mailbox is part of Google Workspace, from $7 a user a month on an annual commitment (checked on 27 October 2026).

### How much does a business email address cost?

A free address costs $0. On your own domain, LotsMail is $5 a month or $50 a year for one domain and the whole team. Google Workspace Starter is $7 a user a month on an annual commitment, which is $420 a year for five people. Prices checked on 27 October 2026.

### What do clients see when I email from my own domain?

They see your address, such as you@yourcompany.com, in the From line, and replies come back to it. For agencies, white-label also removes LotsMail branding from the webmail and sends account emails from the client's own domain. The domain's MX and DNS records still point at LotsMail.

### Can I move my existing Gmail mail to my own domain?

Your current provider keeps your existing mail, and you can copy it into LotsMail with Import mail: Gmail, Google Workspace, Zoho, Yahoo or any host with IMAP, using an app password. Trash, Spam and Drafts are not imported, and Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com accounts can't be imported yet. The app password is deleted when the import ends.

### What happens to my email if I stop paying?

On LotsMail, sending stops at once, incoming mail keeps arriving for 14 days and then pauses, and your mail is never deleted.

### Do I need a new domain to get a professional email address?

You need a domain you control. If you already have one for your website, you keep your DNS provider and website and add the records LotsMail shows you.
