What Paperclip can do with LotsMail

Once connected, Paperclip can:

  • Read and search your mailboxes: list conversations by folder, open a whole conversation and find messages by person, subject or text.
  • Write drafts and reply drafts that wait in Drafts for you to review and send.
  • Send, reply and send a draft, once you have turned sending on for that mailbox, and check whether each message was delivered.
  • Mark messages read or unread, star them and move them between inbox, archive, trash and spam.
  • Start domain setup and show how your domains are paid for. Domains, DNS, team access and agent permissions stay yours, in the dashboard.

The LotsMail dashboard does the whole job too: a full inbox on every device, plus domains, mailboxes, team and agent permissions. Your agent for speed, the dashboard for control.

You need

  • Paperclip with the managed MCP gateway and Tools & Access enabled
  • Company administrator access to tools and agent profiles
  • A LotsMail API key
  • A LotsMail account. You can create one during sign-in.

Connect Paperclip to LotsMail

  1. Create the LotsMail connection

In your company’s Tools & Access, create a LotsMail application and a remote HTTP connection. Use the hosted MCP URL below.

    https://api.lotsmail.to/mcp
  2. Store the key as a secret

Create a key at https://www.lotstech.com/api and save it as a Paperclip company secret. Attach a credential reference to the connection: header Authorization, prefix Bearer followed by a space. Keep the key out of plain connection configuration.

  3. Check the connection and load its tools

Run the connection health check and refresh its tool catalog. Enable the connection, review the discovered tools and approve the actions you want your agent to perform.

  4. Assign access to your agent

Create a tool profile containing the LotsMail tools you need and bind it to the responsible agent. Ask that agent “List my LotsMail mailboxes” before giving it real work.

What to ask next

  • “What came in for sales@ today? Summarise anything that needs a reply.”
  • “Draft a reply to the latest message from the supplier and leave it for me to check.”
  • “Find last month’s invoice from our supplier and tell me the amount and due date.”
  • “Check whether my last email to Acme was delivered.”

If something goes wrong

My agent cannot see LotsMail tools
Check the connection is enabled, its tool catalog is refreshed, the required tools are allowed in a profile and that profile is bound to your agent.

Paperclip and LotsMail: questions

How do I connect Paperclip to LotsMail?

Follow the Paperclip setup above to add https://api.lotsmail.to/mcp. Configure your LotsMail API key using the credential settings shown. Then ask “List my LotsMail mailboxes”.

Does adding Paperclip’s MCP server also add LotsMail?

No. The two servers expose different tools. LotsMail must be connected to the agent runtime or called through its REST API.

Do I need an API key to use LotsMail with Paperclip?

Yes. Create one at https://www.lotstech.com/api and keep it out of chats, logs and committed files. Where Paperclip offers sign-in, use that instead.

What does LotsMail cost?

Current plans and prices are on https://lotsmail.to/pricing. Your agent’s own plan or usage fees are separate.

Can my agent send email without me?

Only if you turn on sending for that mailbox. Sending is off until you do. With read or draft access your agent can search, read and write drafts that wait in Drafts for you to review and send.

Which mailboxes can my agent open?

Only the mailboxes you can open yourself. For each one you choose what agents may do: read and search, write drafts, or send. Owners do not get private mailboxes by default.

Can I limit who my agent emails?

Yes. A mailbox can be restricted to a list of addresses it may send to, and any other recipient refuses the whole send. Only a workspace owner or admin changes restrictions, in the dashboard.

Can my agent change my domain or DNS?

No. It can start domain setup, which gives you the steps and the dashboard link. Domains, DNS, billing, team access and agent permissions stay with you, in the dashboard.

My agent cannot see LotsMail tools

Check the connection is enabled, its tool catalog is refreshed, the required tools are allowed in a profile and that profile is bound to your agent.
